RISD TAX RATIFICATION ELECTION ON NOV. 6
The RISD Board of Trustees reached consensus on RISD’s 2018-19 operating budget and formally called a tax ratification election to ask voters to raise the district’s operating tax rate.
“For those who believe in safe schools, outstanding teachers, and maintaining a strong district that meets the high expectations of our community, this action could no longer be avoided,” said RISD Board President, Justin Bono. “From our highest achieving schools to our campuses and students in need of additional resources, RISD can no longer operate on the reduced state funding and revenue generated by a minimum operating tax rate.”
Trustees seek to raise RISD’s operating tax rate from its current level of $1.04 to $1.17. If approved, the change would raise the property taxes on an average value home by $24.66 a month, or $296 annually.
The voting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 6 as part of the General Election. More info here.
WILD FOR CATS
Wild for Cats, the Academic Booster Club for Lake Highlands High School, exists to enhance the academic reputation of Lake Highlands High School.
Our 2018 Wild for Cats fundraising campaign is now underway. For 2018, our goal is to:
Create additional collaborative learning centers for the students of LHHS;
Provide students with PSAT, SAT and ACT test preparation and online study aids;
Sponsor professional development for LHHS faculty; and
Provide funds for teacher and departmental "wish lists."
If your company provides a company match, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. All donors will receive a “Wild for Cats” yard sign and will be recognized at various academic ceremonies, on our website, and in the All-Sports program. Donors contributing $500 or more will be invited to join us for a celebration on the stadium patio during a LHHS home football game next Fall.
